In this segment, Employment Lawyers HR experts, Jordan Rodney and Miriam Anbar will discuss the importance of taking care of the 'people-side' of the business from a legal perspective.  Employers and employees alike often need guidance navigating the legalities of complex workplace situations.  Business leaders must be equipped with the knowledge and tools to reduce legal costs and minimize the risk of third party employee complaints and/or lawsuits arising from workplace issues.  

This segment will provide participants with an overview of typical workplace issues along with practical tips when faced with them.  Modules reviewed in this segment may include: the importance of legislative compliance, the do's and don'ts in recruitment and selection, statutory obligations regarding hours of work, overtime, vacation, leaves of absence, accommodation issues and termination best practices.   

Jordan is an employment lawyer and a results-driven Human Resource professional with experience in a broad spectrum of employment and labour matters including but not limited to employee and labour relations, employment standards, human resources law, workplace investigations, workplace safety and insurance, human rights, and occupational health and safety. He is focused on ensuring that organizations are equipped to handle workplace issues using innovative and cost-effective solutions. 

In her practice, Miriam handles a broad spectrum of employment and labour matters, including but not limited to wrongful dismissals, employment standards, human resources law, workplace safety and insurance and human rights.  Miriam assists both employers and employees, and she strives to provide practical strategies to solve complex workplace issues.
