Halloween, a day beloved by kids of all ages, has another much older name, Samhain. Once again I'm delighted that Cathleen Kelly will join me to share in a celebration of this ancient autumn rite. In the Northern Hemisphere, autumn is a time that the Earth goes through an apparent death.  Trees shed their leaves, harvested fields turn brown and cold with frost, and the land becomes a place of deep stillness. It is at Samhain we celebrate this transition and join in ceremony to remember the dead and honor our ancestors.

There will be readings and ceremony to deepen our understanding of this special day as we contemplate the endless cycle of life, death, and eventual rebirth.  To heighten the experience listeners are encouraged to have the following assembled before the show: a white candle, a black candle, three ribbons or yarn, one black, one red, and one white, and some sprigs of rosemary.  No need to worry if this isn't possible, but having at least a single candle on hand would be perfect.

If listening live on Wednesday isn't possible, this would be an excellent show to hear later in the week, especially on Friday itself.....Halloween! Cathleen and I look forward to your joining us as we celebrate this ancient and sacred day.
