Mylène Dressler, PhD, is the author of three novels, The Medusa Tree (1997), The Deadwood Beetle (2001), and The Floodmakers (2004), as well as the forthcoming The Wedding of Anna F. As "Dr. Em" she lectures widely to audiences of all kinds, and leads workshops in creativity, writing, and the art of connecting imaginatively and powerfully through voice, movement, and action. A former professional ballet dancer, fellow of Rice University and professor of literature and writing, she has been a faculty member or visiting writer at the University of Texas at Austin, the National Autonomous University of Chiapas, the University of Groningen, Rice University, and the University of St. Thomas, among others.
