Connie Johnson, commonly referred to as Chef Connie, is a dynamic woman who has dedicated herself to improving the health and happiness of people within her community. Though her alma mater is Howard University in Washington D.C., Chef Connie is proud to call Baltimore her hometown.

Before coining the name “Chef Connie,” Connie reigned in New York as a top executive in the music industry. After leaving the industry, Connie returned to Baltimore to raise her family of six children.

Chef Connie discovered her passion for the culinary field while cooking with her eldest daughter, Bijan. After realizing her raw talent as a chef, Connie began to pursue a culinary career.

While Chef Connie’s eldest daughter, Bijan, also helped her mother discover her passion for helping others, especially children. In 2007, Chef Connie’s eldest daughter, Bijan, tragically passed away in a violent asthma attack.

Though Chef Connie experienced many challenges in the time proceeding Bijan’s passing, Chef Connie liberated herself through her passion to help children.

Chef Connie began a culinary program using the kids from her children’s school, Calvin Rodwell Elementary School.  While keeping spirits high and energy higher, children participating in the program are taught the importance of fighting against obesity and cooking without salt. Her culinary camp gained attention after the filming of HBO’s Weight of the Nation, and has made appearances on Baltimore’s FOX News Channel.

After learning of local parents’ requests to enroll their children in the limited school program, Chef Connie designed a fitness and culinary arts camp to address the needs of the children’s mind, body, and soul.
