From New York in the east to California in the west, we often here of the color wars. While the color wars from coast to coast are Gang Related (red, blue, white, black, etc), Like the coastal wars, the political war is with the "Red" and "Blue" Red being the Republican party and "Blue" representing the democratic party. 100s of years have passed and the war rages on. The civil war is said to have ended long ago, but every 4 years, it seems as though a verbal civil war begins yet again. The mudslinging and divisive tactics coupled with manipulation and inuendo makes Presidential Election season a most treacherous time. The Republican Party is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States, along with the Democratic Party. Founded by anti-slavery expansion activists in 1854, it is often called the GOP (Grand Old Party), although the rival Democratic Party is older. The Democratic Party of the United States is composed of various factions, with some overlap and enough agreement between them to coexist with each other within the party. Referred to as Left Wingers, Centrists, Unions, Librals, Christian Left, Secular, Conservatives, Libertarians, you find a political multi-cratic melting pot.
