Loide Rosa Jorge is an Immigration attorney practicing within the DC metropolitan area,  she is also the Chair of the Commission on African Affairs for DC Mayor's Office on African Affairs, and when off the clock she has made it a personal commitment to educate under served and underrepresented immigrant populations within the DMV on the basics of US immigration law.

Ms. Jorge will discuss the impact and implications of DC Mayor Grey's recent order mandating that the District not fully cooperate with the Feds Secure Communities initiatives. A description of the fed's objectives in implementing such a program; The direct implications of secure communities on local immigrant communities [particular within the African diaspora], and; Examples of how the objectives of the federal program conflict with public safety objectives of local law enforcement officials. She will aslo discuss on the impact and implications of President Obama's recent directive - where he set guidelines for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to implement prosecutorial discretion in providing DREAMers analternate status. The discussion will also include the directives particular impact on local Youth within the African diaspora.
