Magical New Year - "Harry Potter" Authors RedBearGrl and D. Geheimnis

Femslash4Fans Radio rings in the new year with a bookish theme in January. We'll look at two of the past decade's biggest crazes in literature and film among teenage audiences, starting with tonight's show on the Harry Potter universe. With seven bestselling, critically praised novels that managed to spread to all ages, and a series of successful Hollywood movies that even now has yet to reach the end, Harry Potter also spawned a huge and vibrant online fandom - occasionally a little TOO vibrant. The majority of fans shipped pairings like Harry/Hermione, Harry/Ginny, and Ron/Hermione - oh boy, did they ship them - but we'll be looking at the equally passionate HP femslash community. Our two guests this evening will be RedBearGrl, who wrote the big two-parters "Witches in Times" and "A Dragon's Tale" featuring Hermione/Ginny, and D. Geheimnis, author of the Hermione/Fleur fic "Aucune Defense Pour Toi". We'll be joined yet again by co-host Dreiser, who herself is known in the fandom for writing the Hermione/Fleur story "No Defense For You", upon which D. Geheimnis' fic was based. We'll talk about the appeal of femslash pairings involving Hermione and many other women in the HP universe, and what it was like being part of a community where some people took defending their OTP to a whole new level.
