In 2005 a group of people in Houston, TX carried out a vision to launch a 21st ministry that addressed 21st century needs. This vision birthed a non-denominational Christian Church called Awakenings Movement in Houston, TX. “AM” quickly grew reaching people who were previously uninterested in God or the Church. Diallo and Jameel Smith, two elders from this original group and natives of Detroit, knew that God had called them to bring this movement to their home city.
