Preston Pearson--is a former professional American football running back in the National Football League who played for the Baltimore Colts (1967–1969), the Pittsburgh Steelers (1970–1974), and the Dallas Cowboys (1975–1980). Before his NFL career, he played for the University of Illinois, where he excelled at basketball. He didn't play college football.

Carolyn Russell is a 30-year veteran advocate and policy maker in the Battered Women‘s Movement. For 26 years she has served as the Executive Director of A Safe Place, the City of Oakland’s first battered women’s shelter and comprehensive domestic violence prevention and support services organization.

She is a sought after speaker, seasoned educator and long-time advocate on behalf of women’s issues and matters of social justice. Her thought leadership and insight is sought in the media and in the corridors of power in Alameda County, the state of California and nationally.
