For large numbers of people, fond memories of childhood are inclusive of playing with friends at or away from school. The popular children, like myself, engaged in softball, dodgeball, " prison " ball, tag, flag football, etc. However, there were always outcasts who only got a chance to play when someone invited them to play. Therefore,the times that childhood outcasts played were far overshadowed by the time spent watching others have fun. For many of these children, the past and present consists of little more than bitter memories. This is the Black experience in a nutshell ; BEING BLACK CONSISTS OF BEING A SPECTATOR OF EVERYTHING THAT EMPOWERS INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES, AND OUR TRIBE.
