Chicago Bulls' point guard Derrick Rose jostled an entire city when he admitted that the reason for him sitting out some games early in the young NBA season was that he doesn't want to be hobbled and sore when he's done playing basketball. Did he have to say this? NO. In stark contrast, New Orleans Pelicans forward Ryan Anderson opened up to Sports Illustrated's Chris Ballard in a heart-wrenching piece detailing the struggle of life after the death of his girlfriend Gia Allemand. It's a story about suicide and its aftermath, but more importantly survival. I'll use the two stories as a point-counter-point to detail when an athelete should and shouldn't speak his or her mind to the press.
PLUS: The Bears are in Permanent Hibernation, the Cubs may make a splash, Wrigley Field is blown to bits, and oh so many more news around the sports world!
HERE'S THE MUST READ FROM CHRIS BALLARD ON RYAN ANDERSON
