Michel J. Faulkner is the Republican candidate for the House for New York City's 15th district, running against Charlie Rangel. He is a former professional football player, having played for the NY Jets during the 1981 season, and has obtained a master's degree in education and career counseling from Virginia Tech in 1985 and was ordained minister by Calvary Baptist Church in 1991. Believing he has a calling for helping the poor and disadvantaged, Michael Faulkner has been working through the church since 1985 by training and equipping urban missionaries and by managing the church’s programs serving the homeless, the prison ministry and an HIV/AIDS program. He has also served the people of New York City in numerous initiatives including being named co-chairman for the New York City Board of Education’s HIV/AIDS Task Force, and served as World Vision’s Director of U.S. Programs. He is the founder of the Institute for Leadership and in 2006 founded the New Horizon Church of New York in Harlem.
