A Los Angeles jury announced its unanimous verdict on Monday, November 7. The jurors had deliberated the fate of the doctor, a 58-year-old Grenada-born cardiologist who had treated the singer at his home on the day he died, for a total of about eight and a half hours after a six-week trial.
After the verdict was read, Murray appeared calm. The judge then remanded Murray into custody, without the possibility of being released on bail. The doctor was handcuffed and is set to be jailed later in the day. He is to remain behind bars until his sentencing date, which was set for November 29.
