Does your definition for success include WINNING at any cost? Perhaps your definition for success requires that you only have to show up and you are entitled to be reognized and rewarded.
John Wooden in 1934 defined success this way, "Success is the peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to become the best of which you are capable."
Having the mental toughness and discipline to constantly strive to be better without the expectation of reward or recognition is challenging and some would say is the attitude demonstrated by champions, leaders, or heros.
