Child Buse Prevention pt 4 - Why does a child, or anyone, deny harmful or neglectful actions against them? It's seems they wouldn't want to protect that person at all, right? HOwever, most victims of violence and harm will not speak for a number of societal reasons, but a child will ALWAYS protect their Mom & Dad, their home, their life. They don't actually know the societal stigma of being a victim, so it's not the societal judgements they are afraid of; it's about what is normal, what they believe is their bad behavior, and what will happen if they tell on Mommy or Daddy? Think of this burden of keeping what is their home, the only daily security they know, despite how harmful it may be. The truth is it's better than the unknown of what might happen to their family. Helping the family as a whole and NOT removing the child into a brutal and destructive care system is key.
