Chariss Walker has said that each step she has taken in life has led to this very moment. She encourages others to understand that each experience, whether considered a blessing or a mistake, was the right choice to make at that time. She says that "it is in the reconciliation and acceptance of the choices we have made that turn those experiences from fear to love." Chariss has many life lessons to share with others through public speaking, working with others in groups or one-on-one, and through writing. Her most recent accomplishment is the release of a new book, Make a Joyful Noise: Searching for a Spiritual Path in a Material World, which received The Mom’s Choice Award® for best Adult book of 2009. Born in 1952, Manila, Arkansas and raised in the Mississippi Delta, Chariss is the daughter of the late Martin E. Walker, a farmer, and Lola Wiggs Walker, a poet. Chariss began her writing career while in grade school when her Conservation entry in the Mississippi Forestry contest, open to 1st through 12th grade, won a $50.00 first place prize. She graduated from Fielding L Wright High School cum laude in 1969. With a true love of learning and teaching, Chariss has been in the academic arena for many years with a bachelor degree in Metaphysical Sciences and recently received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity. After graduation, Chariss continued to write to inspire and help many. She currently has a blog on MySpace.com where she offers insight and new healing and spiritual information to many. She is also a member of IBPA, AuthorsDen, AmazonConnect, BeliefNet, BookTour, Bebo, LibraryThing, GoodReads, PoetsandWritersRegistry, LinkedIn, Facebook, Fanstory, RedRoom, Yuwie, Wordpress, and many other networking site.
