“Paul is trying to tell us something”  1 Corinthians 10:1-13

God is giving us a warnings by example

10 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

All that Paul uses in these verses are taken from scriptures in the Old Testament.  In chapter 9 Paul uses himself as an example of a mature Christian, who disciplines himself to better serve God, in this chapter he used Israel as an example of spiritual immaturity, shown in their overconfidence and lack of self-discipline. God uses these examples of how He led them under a cloud and passed them through the red sea. They all eat the spiritual food and drank the spiritual drink its called spiritual not because the meat or the water was anything special but that they were miraculous provided by God as they traveled in the wilderness. They were baptized unto Moses, just as we are baptized and united in Christ. They were united under Moses leadership as the man of God, in the events of the exodus from Egypt. Just like they rebutted Moses it the same way we are rebutting Christ by doing our own thing. We can see that this displeased God then and is also displeases Him now and He overthrown them in the wilderness.
