“The resurrection is not how the story ends, Jesus is coming back"  1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

The Thessalonians were wondering since many of their fellow believers had fallen asleep (died) and what would happen to them when Christ returned.  Paul wanted the Thessalonians to understand that death is not the end of the story.  When Christ returns, all believers dead or alive will be reunited with Him, never to suffer again. Here we see that Paul in speaking about the Rapture. The Rapture is an event that will take place sometime in the future and many of us believe the near future. The Rapture is an "end times" event where Jesus Christ returns for His Church and believers who are "alive and remain shall be caught up together…in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air". This is the time of the resurrection, where each Christian receives his or her resurrected body. First to receive their new bodies are those who have died as Christians, and then, those who are "alive and remain."  1 Corinthians 15:51-52 Paul says: Take notice, I am telling you a secret. We shall not all die but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet call. For the trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall all be changed".
