With Marc out this week, Cole and Javier begin a descent into the 2017 draft big class by discussing an under the radar big to monitor, Gonzaga’s Zach Collins. Collins is unlikely to declare, but if he does he has sneaky lottery potential. We then shift our analysis to another prospect we haven’t discussed in great detail, Texas’ Jarrett Allen, who after a slow start to the season has looked more like his Hoop Summit self of late.
After touching on two lesser talked about names, we return to previously discussed bigs Robert Williams, Lauri Markkanen and Justin Patton. We wrap up prospect talk with the fours in this class, mainly T.J. Leaf and Tyler Lydon. How do we value this stretch four archetype relative to where they’ll likely be selected in the draft should they declare? We then rapid fire hit on more fringe big prospects in our mind such as Ivan Rabb, Bam Adebayo, Caleb Swanigan and Jodran Bell (second round sleeper!), and differentiate some of these players from higher upside starting potential dice-rolls.
To end the episode, we give our thoughts on the trade deadline deals, specifically Nerlens Noel’s fit in Dallas, Toronto’s incredible lineup versatility now and of course DeMarcus Cousins trade talk. Enjoy!
