THIS WEEK THE NDUSTRY REFLECTS ON THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF JORDAN DAVIS, WITH HIS FATHER, MR. RON DAVIS,  President and CEO, The Jordan Davis Foundation.

 

Ron Davis was born in Harlem, but resided in Queens, NY. He moved to Atlanta in 1990 and then to Jacksonville, FL in 2002. He and his wife is Carolina Davis had two sons, Ron JR and Jordan Davis.

After Jordan Davis' untimely and tragic death, his father Ron Davis became a steadfast activist working to prevent the use of "Stand Your Ground" laws to justify unprovoked killings. In 2013, he established The Jordan Davis Foundation, a non-profit organization that aims to provide financial assistance for children to nurture their curiosity with exposure to cultural initiatives through travel and education.  He is also, a leader of the Black Lives Matter movement and is on the planning committee for the US Human Rights Network. In 2014, Davis spoke at a United Nations conference in Geneva, prompting UN representatives to condemn policies of racial discrimination against people of color in the US.

2015 Sundance Award winning documentary 3 1/2 Minutes : Ten Bullets is the Story of Jordan Davis and his parents fight for Justice in America. The film was screened at The White House in 2015 and after a theatrical release is currently shown on HBO.

Ron Davis was invited to The White House by President Obama to join "My Brother's Keeper Initiative" and is a much sought after speaker at events across the country.
