 A traveler finds a beaten man on the roadside and provides help. Marshal Bailey is called into transport the Good Samaritan to federal court for trial on the charge of murdering the same man. Along the way Marshal Bailey is convinced he has the wrong man in custody and offers to help prove it. A group of small town law enforcement officials attempt to cover up the murder, and pin it on the Good Samaritan Marshal Bailey has in custody of while keeping their ongoing kidnapping and extortion enterprise alive.
