Lou Eisenbrandt is my guest this week. Lou Served as an Army Nurse in Vietnam, most of that time spent at the Chu Lai Army hospital, right next to the South China Sea. We will discuss Lou's book, Vietnam Nurse: Mending and Remembering, which is about her experience in Vietnam and afterwards, her transition and reflections on her experience. Lou saw it all, the waves of casualties, the puddles of blood, the Montagnard orphans, the soldiers who did not want to go back into the bush and the soldiers who could not wait to rejoin their unit and buddies.

What preparation did the Army give Lou? What were the hospitals like? Where there really puddles of blood? What is a Montagnard? Were there any good time? If she was by the South China Sea, did they have access to a beach, surfing, water skiiing? What kinds of relationships did did people form in situations like that?

Listen in and find out the answers to these and other questions that you don't even yet know that you have.
