This is a black arts and culture site. We will be exploring the African Diaspora via the writing, performance, both musical and theatrical (film and stage), as well as the visual arts of Africans in the Diaspora and those influenced by these aesthetic forms of expression. I am interested in the political and social ramifications of art on society, specifically movements supported by these artists and their forebearers. It is my claim that the artists are the true revolutionaries, their work honest and filled with raw unedited passion. They are our true heroes. Ashay!

Guests: Malik Rahim, co-founder Common Ground Relief (Collective), Community Organizer, Black Panther Party Alumnus. He joins us to talk about Albert Woodfox's recent hearing at the 20th Circuit Court in St. Francisville, La., Monday, July 7.

Robert H. King, the only free member of Angola3, (since Herman Wallace's death, days after his release with terminal cancer in 2013). He will join us briefly to give us his impressions.

B Mike, muralist, has a large work of Albert Woodfox in New Orleans near the Super Dome.

2. Gay Dillingham, director, Dying to Know: Ram Dass and Timothy Leary

3. Sister Carol, reggae artist
