The jazz, funk soul brother, Ola Onabule is on the virtual couch talking about music. The writer, producer and vocalist who's influences of soul, jazz and African music come together in subtle and sophisticated melodies and time signatures, seamlessly documenting the issues of the day with the universal subjects of love and loss. Ola has shared the stage with some of America's finest soul and jazz artists including Diane Reeves, Gladys Knight, Al Jarreau, Patti Labelle, Roberta Flack, Joe Zawinul, Natalie Cole, and Roy Hargrove. Ola the British born Nigerian spent 10 of his formative years living in Lagos, Nigeria. A fluent Yoruba speaker he soaked up the atmosphere of Fela Kuti, King Sunny Ade as well as the influences of James Brown, Donny Hathaway and Marvin Gaye forming part of his musical diet. Ola was briefly signed to Elektra (Warners US) but soon found that autonomy was necessary to create his own sound, musical style. He went on to create his own label Rugged Ram Records and has since released six self penned and produced albums. As well as performing hundreds of shows at theaters, festivals all across the UK, Europe, US and Canada. The funketeer is about to birth his 7th studio album entitled 'SEVEN SHADES DARKER'. Ola
