"An Apache myth tells us that the Creator made man able to walk and talk, to see and hear -- to do  everything. But the Creator wasn't satisfied. Finally he made man laugh, and when man laughed and laughed, the Creator said, "Now you are fit to live." ~ Richard Lederer

"Man is the only animal who blushes - or needs to," ~ Mark Twain

Neuroscientist V.S. Ramachandran says in his book "Phantoms of the Brain": "The main purpose of laughter might be to allow the individual to alert others in the social group that the detected anomaly is trivial, nothing to worry about."

So the release of tension after laughter counters the biological fight-or-flight response. It brings trust in one's companions, therefore strengthening communal connections.

"Embracing life and living life to the fullest is the defining elements of being a joyologist" News Now Digital Daily
