Yakov discusses his mission statement which is, “To experience happiness and teach it with passion through comedy and sensitivity.” He says, “I don’t do comedy just for the sake of comedy. Comedy opens your heart and while it’s open why not put in something that is valuable? So I teach very basic principles about love, kindness, and enjoying life.

Yakov Smirnoff arrived in this country from the Soviet Union in 1977, became an American citizen on July 4, 1986, and1993 he opened his own theatre in Branson, Missouri. His unique comedy and venue is a reflection of the dynamics between men and women, the happiness that can be found inside oneself, and a celebration of the spirit of life. Yakov completed his master’s degree in positive psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in May 2006. He teaches as a professor and also offers Living Happily Ever Laughter relationship seminars throughout the country. Yakov has also authored two books: America on Six Rubles a Day and Smirnoff for the Soul.www.yakov.com
