Claire Power Murphy was prompted to pursue her professional endeavors as she grappled with health issues from an early age. Her situation inspired her to help herself through natural and holistic remedies. While she endured her experience, her family members were also sick, and Ms. Murphy began to help others on a voluntary basis. An authentic curiosity in healthcare and training impelled Ms. Murphy to establish the Self-Rejuvenation Center. She also sought to introduce therapeutic remedies to those who have abandoned conventional medicine. Ms. Murphy’s harrowing story encouraged her to compose “Preserved to Serve,” the story of her conversion from a child addicted to junk food, to a carnivorous teacher, to a vegetarian, and finally, to a fruitarian author who also incorporated the eight laws of health into her diet. She earned a master’s degree in elementary education from Hunter College, and a bachelor’s degree in history, with a minor in elementary education and psychology. She also enjoyed an abundant teaching career, during which she developed a program called “Expanding Horizons,” a program which she introduced to her advanced learner third-grade class that was later taken on by every third-grade teacher on Staten Island.
