Dr. Kath Bogie, a biomedical engineer, talks about smart bandages and other wound research issues with host Jim Fausone.  She is a researcher at the Cleveland VA Medical Center and at Case Western Reserve University.  Her focus has been on spinal cord injury research and problem solving for patients and clinicians. The smart bandages that are low cost decrease wound size and improve outcomes are called ExciFLex. The wheelchair cushion problem to solve was high quality, but affordable for effective pressure relief.  The use of 3D printers caused a break thru in this problem for patients.  These cushions are know as SquishINS.
