What’s up, Everybody!
This is Adrienne Grey! I’m new on the Blog Talk Radio scene and I just want to tell you a bit about myself and what I hope to do with my new radio show, Adrienne Grey Live. I’m a married mother of 2 beautiful girls and I’ve live a lot of life in my some what short (all though, they’re getting longer by the day) 28 years. I love just about any genre of music and absolutely all things media and I believe very strongly in the power of both and what I hope to do hear is to join the two as harmoniously as possible (cue ancient Asian gong here). I’m not all serious, though. I love to act a fool and I can crack jokes with the best of ‘em. I may not always be smart and I may not always be funny but I’m honest and I’m real and I hope that’s comes across here. We’ll have a good time together…that’s my word.
Alright. Now that that’s out of the way, we’ve got some bizzzzness to attend to! Let’s do this!
With all the political excitement going on right now, I have to tell you…I’m actually a bit confused. I mean absolutely as a black woman I feel a sort of obligation to support Barack in all that he does and says and I feel like I can trust him, but I hate to tell everyone this, but he really has no proven track record. He has only been a senator for 4 years! 4 years versus John McCain who has been working busily on the political scene since ’82. That’s over a quarter century’s worth of work! Does that mean McCain is the better candidate? Absolutely not, but regardless about how you feel about him, he’s got a valid argument on his behalf. Remember when I said that I was confused. That’s only the beginning. If you put your personal feelings aside, which admittedly is very difficult to do, you’d see that this whole election, even the entire political process, is a mess.
Everyday you turn on the television, radio, computer (insert electronic media device here) and see some new reason not to vote for one or the other. Most of the time it’s not for anything either one of the candidates has even said. You’re being told not to vote for one or the other because of what people who are in their camps have said. Very rarely does anything come straight from the horse’s mouth anymore. Everybody is speaking for the candidates.
I will say this though. Thank God for the information age! Even though it can seem overwhelming at times we have access to so much information. “I didn’t know” is no longer a valid excuse! Read a paper, log on, tune in! Do something and make sure you check into more than one source! Everybody’s got an angle…don’t get got by all of the choices you have. Make your choices and outlets work for you. I may not know exactly who I’m going to vote for right now, but I can guarantee you this…I’m doing everything I can to find out as much as I can about each candidate, where they stand on topics that are important to me (sidebar…WHAT IS UP WITH THE GAS PRICES! THIS IS INSANE PEOPLE!) so, when the time comes for me to pull that lever I will be prepared and I will make an informed decision not only with my head, but my heart as well.
Now, let me get off of my soap box long enough to thank you for reading this. I really truly enjoy media and the power it has to offer and hope to help every one of you reading this and listening to get the information you have a right to! Check back in the next couple of days and I will have some good websites for you to get started and by all means if you know of any, holler at me! First, I’d love to hear from you and next, I know some of you out there can teach me something, too!
Let's start with www.votesmart.org. It's super comprehensive site with tons of information about the whole political process, top to bottom.
Thanks again and remember…there’s a lot going on out there and somewhere in the mix you’ll find me, Adrienne Grey.
