When you look at your career in today’s job market, experts say there are at least four key issues you must pay attention to: 1) job mobility, 2) globalization, 3) technology, and 4) the pace of change.

Career experts say that to keep on track you need a steady job and a robust social network. But today’s guest, Wendy Murphy, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Management at Babson College, says you need something more to grow your career. You need to build strategic relationships at work. Specifically, you need to create a circle of mentors, sponsors and peers to be more successful at work and in life.

In addition to her teaching duties, Dr. Murphy serves as the Coordinator for Mentoring Programs through the Center for Women's Entrepreneurial Leadership. She is also the co-author of “Strategic Relationships at Work: Creating Your Circle of Mentors, Sponsors, and Peers for Success in Business and Life.” Her research appears in a variety of prestigious scholarly journals.
