Meryl Hershey Beck, a psychotherapist, teacher, author, and healer, spent many years ashamed of her eating. For over 2 decades, she used food as her 'fix,' just like the alcoholic uses booze -- to numb out. When she was thirty, Meryl began her recovery from emotional eating, which had been fueled by anxiety, low self-esteem, feelings of depression, and the desire to escape. Meryl became serious about uncovering the root cause of her overeating and incorporated many modalities in her quest for self-understanding. As her self-acceptance grew, her relationship with food changed, as did her career.
