Guest: Chris Ruben, Adopt A Shelter

I met Chris at the BlogPaws, pet blogger conference in Washington D.C. as a fellow exhibitor I walked over and introduced myself. He then tried to explain to me what he was up to. I have to admit that my IT background made for a confusing conversation, but when I stepped back and really “listened” to Chris describe the program… Lightning struck (yes the Hurricane was almost there… not there yet, but almost). My happy surprise was how simple and easy the system is to use, how every detail was handled and explained.  What a great way for Shelters to raise money without the usual volunteer hours spent. Chris’s commitment is that the volunteer hours are better spent taking care of the animals.

During the event I had several opportunities to speak with Chris and also Dusty Rainbolt. They used the event as their launch and everyone was impressed by the simplicity of the program. I couldn’t let the opportunity of having Chris on the program slip by, so we sat down during one of the conference sessions and had a chat.

Also during the event Petco announced their National Adoption Reunion Sweepstakes...

-------------------- About Behind the Curtain: In the "Wizard of OZ" there was a man behind the curtain who showed people that they already had everything they needed and desired... We've created a BlogTalkRadio program where our guests include those hero's and champions who dedicate themselves to make a difference with people and our animal companions. Most of these organizations are well known and make amazing differences in their communities, but the people behind the curtain, those that spend countless hours, often don't seek the spotlight and we want to share their stories and passion with you.
