ABOUT AUTHOR:
Tomeka S. Phifer child of God born July 17,1974 at St. Lukes Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. Tomeka was raised in New York until the age of five then she moved with her family to Concord North Carolina where her natural musical gifts and talents were discovered by her music teacher. Tomeka was introduced to singing and dancing at the age of five, she would give performances at her grand parents home and perform for them and their guest. By age six Tomeka started to experience one family tragedy after the other. Firstly, Her father was murdered and her grandmother died June 1981. She was torn between the painful choice of attending her grandmother’s or her father’s funeral because they were both held on the exact same day. Secondly, Tomeka witnessed her mother being mentally, emotionally and phisycally abused by her long time boyfriend for many years of her precious young life. Feeling neglected, rejectected and unaccepted most of her life she turned to music for serenity and pleasure. At 13 years of age she was accepted to Joan of Arc performing Arts Junior High School. Tomeka began to excel in all academics and was consistently placed on the school’s "Honor Roll" for her hard work and high achievements. Painful events and tragic storms of life continued to show up creating the illusion of unbareable obtacles, so Tomeka became more aquainted with music, dance and the arts. Eventually, Tomeka started writing music and poetry as an outlet for her painful memories, she would dance for hours to release stress. She came to the realization that God was in the music and poetry that flowed into and from her heart. "Writing is therapeutic", "Dance reminds me that I am SPIRITUALLY FREE" says, Tomeka. Let’s welcome a truly humble Author, musician, poet and motivational speaker.
