Drastic Steps with Host Toni Harris with Special Guest Susan Downs & JoAnn Ajayi-Scott

Susan Downs a physical therapist with over 25 years experience in the Houston area. Four years ago, my 25 year old son jumped off the roof of his apartment complex because he heard voices telling him to do so. He became my full time patient and was in the hospital or rehab center for 8 months. He is currently living in a personal care home in the Sharpstown area. His diagnosis is Schizophrenia. My husband and I are active in NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness.) We will be participating in their fundraising event in downtown Houston on May 4. It is a 5K walk down Allen Parkway. My son and I make beautiful bird feeders and sell them at local stores and craft fairs. We also donate many of them for Silent Auctions at local schools and charities. In 2011 I ran twice for the Bellaire City Council. My slogan was "I will listen to you."

JoAnn Ajayi-Scott has been in the business of supporting females of ALL ages all her life. She is very passionate about recruiting women entrepreneurs to become philanthropists to educate, mentor, and empower girls! She exclaims, "we wont be remembered by the amount of money we have, but how we have done for others, especially children. She began this journey at the age of 10 when she was selected to be a tutor for a seven year old girl struggling with reading in the 2nd grade. "the hidden effect of helping others is the immeasurable joy and impact it has on your own life!" Over the past four decades, she has mentoring hundreds of women and girls through church, schools, community, and businesses.
