Welcome to “Culture War” Friday. U.S. District Judge Marco Hernandez ruled "high school students do not have a fundamental privacy right to not share school restrooms, lockers, and showers with transgender students whose biological sex is different than theirs." He wrote that the stress the boys felt was not "comparable to the plight of transgender students who are not allowed to use facilities consistent with their gender identity.” The University of Alaska Southeast is canceling "most" classes on November 6 so that students and faculty members can attend a day-long "Power and Privilege Symposium." In a chapter for a new "Handbook of Race and Arts in Education," a University of North Texas art education professor argues that K-12 teachers should work to combat "geometries of whiteness." A California State University, Fresno professor says the literary community "must DEMAND that white editors resign," saying it is intolerable for them to hold "positions of power." A Harvard University sorority has announced it will become gender neutral this upcoming semester. Don't forget about the Edwards Notebook and the Veteran's Tip of the Day! All of this and more as time allows. Listen live, join the chatroom, be a part of the show.
