David, in his righteous indignation, sets out to punish a foolish man who refuses to do what's right by his men; but a very wise and brave woman stops the would-be slaughter. Abigail was married to an absolute fool, who dies in short order. David seeks out Abigal and marries her, recognizing that she was a great asset to him and saved him from doing a deed that he was sure he would have regretted. Imagine how much patience that woman had to put up with her first husband, and what an honor to such a beloved leader as David, who would soon be a beloved king.
