Allowing the Land to Rest and You (Leviticus 25)

God instructs the Israelites to allow their land to have complete rest every seventh year. God is a respector of the earth and the original example of how to be environmentally friendly. These instructions result in more robust crops after the land has had the opportunity to return to its natural environment for a year. 

God also answers the question about what people will eat in the seventh year.  He has provisions:  "'What will we eat during the seventh year, since we are not allowed to plant or harvest crops that year?' Be assured that I will send my blessing for you in the sixth year, so the land will produce a crop large enough for three years."
