In Genesis Chapter 10, we read about descendants of Noah's sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth.  Mixed in with the listing of names, God adds a description of Nimrod.  In verses 8-12 we learn that "He was a mighty hunter in the Lord's sight."  v. 9

The truth for today is that God has nothing against hunting for meat to eat.  In fact, He brags on the first mighty hunter perhaps in the history of the world.  I live in Texas, where hunting deer is a big thing.  I am also a big fan of Duck Commander/Buck Commander, which is a business run by a Christian family in West Monroe, Louisiana.  The family also stars in "Duck Dynasty" on the A & E network.  I want to give them a shout out because the head of the family, Phil Robertson, was recently fired for speaking truths from the Bible.  God was proud of Nimrod, and I'm sure He is proud of Phil Robertson, too, who loves to hunt.  There was such an outcry of support for Phil, he was re-hired, by the way.
