Have you ever spent so much time and trouble fixing up your house for guests that you almost wish you had never invited them over in the first place? Hours of cleaning and dusting and hiding all the stuff you live with normally -- stacks of magazines and mail, toys and gadgets, shoved to the back of the closet, cleverly disguised by the dirty laundry which you actually folded so it looks like it's supposed to be that way so you can get the overall effect of a home decorating magazine that never shows pictures of anyone living there. Perfect, right?
Why do we aspire to this so-called perfect ideal that's not really true to who we are or how we live? Is it possible that there's magnificence in our mess and we're missing it? Does the "lived-in look" look more like you?
Join me, Bootsy Welles, every Tuesday at 11pm for a live broadcast of "The Unperfectionist" where we explore the lives of creative people who believe that personal expression is more important than perfection when it comes to living in style. Find out about upcoming episodes at http://www.facebook.com/theunperfectionst and follow me on Twitter @unperfectspaces. David Hasselhoff does, and so should you.
Thanks ever so.
