For most christians, Messiah's miraculous birth by way of the "virgin Mary" is generally accepted as a core belief of the christian religion. It is a belief that is automatic and taken for granted as one of their essential doctrines. So much so, that the "virgin birth" has become the primary evidence of who Messiah is. The biggest holiday in the world, christmas, is centered around this miraculous birth. Surely if the majority masses of people are going to devote themselves to this monumental belief, they ought to have some clear and accessible evidence to support why they believe it.
