Our guest this morning is Kelley Haley, Owner of Homie in Manhattan Beach.

Kelley was born and raised in Manhattan Beach in the 60's in an original craftsman home built on the corner of Manhattan Avenue and 13th Street. A few years back it was awarded a Historical Building Certificate from the state of CA. The beach, Live Oak Park and DTMB were Kelley’s playgrounds.

After graduating from college she became a nurse, specializing in pediatric brain tumors, and worked at Children's Hospital Los Angeles for 29 years. She retired in 2018 and after a few short months of 'retirement boredom', Kelley pursued a quiet little dream she had of owning a small, local restaurant.

For Kelley, Homie creates a space that celebrates what is best about the community. She can remember a time when Manhattan Beach shop owners knew the local kids' names and even ran tabs for them; a time when neighbors looked out for each other. It's her goal to keep that spirit alive.

Homie welcomes people near and far to celebrate the connection that makes us stronger by sharing a good meal, toasting to good times and gathering people together to be our best selves. Family, neighbors and dear friends have made Homie Kelley’s second home.
