Our guest this morning is Fran Simon, President of Los Serenos de Point Vicente.

Fran Simon first joined Los Serenos de Point Vicente as a volunteer in 2005 and became a docent in 2007.  She worked as Publicity Chair, Third Vice President, Chair of The Grants Oversight Committee, and Chair of the Public Relations Committee. At Whale of a Day, she was Chair of the Fundraising Booth, and for the past 5 years, she has been the Chair of Children’s Games and Face Painting.  In 2011, Fran was awarded Docent of the Year.  Currently, Fran is President of Los Serenos de Point Vicente.

Fran is also the Project Director at The Survivor Mitzvah Project, a non-profit group aiding elderly and impoverished Holocaust survivors in Eastern Europe.  She previously worked at The Survivors of The Shoah Visual History Foundation after working in radio in the Miami, Key West, and Trenton/Philadelphia markets.

Los Serenos de Point Vicente is a volunteer organization that assists and supports the City of Rancho Palos Verdes' objectives for the Point Vicente Interpretive Center, plus its parks and trails. The Los Serenos docents and volunteers provide interpretive and educational services to the community and public by means of docent led tours, special events, workshops and classes.

Los Serenos also co-sponsors the annual Whale of a Day Celebration with the City of Rancho Palos Verdes held each year on the second Saturday of March and Fran is here to tell us what attendees can expect at this popular event.
