Our guests this morning are Manhattan Beach Fire Chief Robert Espinosa and Archie Sherman, Sports Supervisor for the Parks & Rec Dept. for the City of Manhattan Beach.

Chief Robert Espinosa has over 34 years of experience in the fire service including four years in the US Army as a firefighter. He began his municipal career in 1982 with the El Segundo Fire Department. From 1984 to 2008, he was a member of the Long Beach Fire Department where he held the ranks of Fire Captain, Battalion Chief, and Assistant Fire Chief. His assignments as an Assistant Chief included Deputy Fire Marshal and Operations Chief. 

Archie Sherman is the Sports Supervisor for the Parks & Recreation Division. He grew up in Manhattan Beach and participated in numerous MB Parks & Rec programs throughout his childhood. Archie attended high school at Mira Costa where he was a member of the 1996 CIF volleyball championship team and graduated from Long Beach St

This morning we’re going to discuss the Charlie Saikley Volleyball Tournament, better known as Six Man, that kicks off the International Surf Festival every year. The Six Man is the oldest tournament on the circuit and has gained some notoriety in the past for being the wildest beach party of the year…..but some steps have be taken over the past few years to curb the scene and our guests are going to give us all the details on the new and improved tournament.
