This morning we have a couple of returning guests - Sherry Kramer of Continental Development and El Segundo Police Chief Mitch Tavera.

Sherry Kramer is actively involved in several area Chambers of Commerce including El Segundo, Torrance, Palos Verdes Peninsula and Manhattan Beach.  She has been Chairwoman of the Torrance, El Segundo and Manhattan Beach Chambers of Commerce.  Her areas of focus include Legislative, Economic Development and Education Committees.  Additionally, Sherry is involved in numerous philanthropic organizations, ones close to her heart include serving on the boards of Torrance Memorial Medical Center, The South Bay Police & Fire Memorial Foundation, 

Chief Mitch Tavera is a life-long south bay resident. He began his career with the El Segundo Police Department in 1978 as a Police Cadet while attending college.  He attended the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Academy in 1979 and since then has been promoted from Police Officer to Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain and, as of April 7, 2010, to Chief of Police. During the past thirty plus years, Chief Tavera has had several assignments; these include Criminal Investigator, WESTNET and LAIMPACT Team Leader, US Customs liaison, SWAT Team member, leader and Commander, Patrol and Detective Commander, and Captain over both the Administrative and Field Operations Bureaus.  As Chief he has overseen the department for the past five years during which time several programs have been instituted to impact crime and protect the El Segundo community. 

This morning, our guests will tell us all about the annual South Bay Medal of Valor Awards & Luncheon which will be held on Wednesday, May 20 at the Torrance Marriot Hotel.
