03-26-2013 Encore

Our guest this morning is the son of a volunteer Fireman, Fire Chief, Volunteer EMT and all around great Dad – it’s our own George Butts, producer of The South Bay Show.

George is the President of the Manhattan Beach C.E.R.T. Association and has been the program’s fearless leader for over five years.

The Manhattan Beach Community Emergency Response Team Association (MBCERTA) is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization created to enhance disaster preparedness and emergency response for the citizens of Manhattan Beach.

They accomplish this through participation in community awareness events, various training programs, drills and providing volunteer support to the Manhattan Beach Fire and Police Departments when a disaster strikes or upon activation by those departments in the event of an emergency.

George is a CERT Instructor and Red Cross Instructor in First Aid, CPR and AED and was the recipient of the 2011 President’s Volunteer Service Award for his work with the CERT Program.

In his spare time, George keeps busy with his firm, The Taxi Equipment Company, which is one of the top three taxi supply businesses in the country and specializes in Braille signage for the transportation industry.

This morning George is going to tell us all about fire: what makes them, what it takes to put them out.
