Our guest this morning is Police Chief Eve Irvine.

Chief Irvine was sworn in as the Manhattan Beach Police Chief on May 25, 2011.

Prior to joining the Manhattan Beach Police Department, Eve worked for the Inglewood PD where she began her career in 1982 as a Police Cadet. She became a Police Officer in 1984 and attended the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Police Academy. Eve was promoted to Detective in 1990.

As a Detective, Eve became a nationally recognized expert in the area of Domestic Violence and worked assignments in Sex Crimes/Child Abuse, Assaults and Robbery.

In addition to Adjutant duties, she commanded the Community Affairs Section and Internal Affairs and also served as Press Information Officer for the Department. In 2003, Eve was promoted to the rank of Police Captain.

She has a Bachelor of Science in Business and Management from the University of Redlands and an MBA from the University of La Verne.

She is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and California’s POST Command College and is recognized as an expert in the field of Media Relations.

Eve lives in the South Bay, is married to a Torrance Police Department Captain and has three grown children.

She was born and raised in the State of New York, enjoys outdoor sports and participates in sprint triathlons. She loves animals, especially rabbits, and has four of them.
