Barry Brisk is In his nineteenth year as Music Director and Conductor of the Beach Cities Symphony Orchestra.

Barry is also currently employed by the Los Angeles City School District, working in five elementary schools in the San Fernando Valley, teaching music.

Barry plays viola with various groups and has been guest conductor with local orchestras.

He began studying viola, piano and tuba as early as nine years of age and now teaches viola and piano.

He has a diploma in conducting from the Vienna Academy of Music and has conducted orchestras, ballet and opera, such as the Vienna Symphony, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Vienna Academy Ballet Orchestra, Tonkunstler Orchestra, Houston Symphony, Westside Symphony, Topanga Symphony, American Youth Symphony and at the Ojai Music Festival.

He has published opera and book reviews, an article for Musical America and has lectured at Loyola Marymount University.

Barry Brisk was assistant conductor under Maestro Mehli Mehta for seven years with the American Youth Symphony Orchestra and has conducted one of their concerts.



His policy of performing new works, such as the Raickovich Symphony has encouraged composers to seek him out and instrumentalists to enjoy these new works.
