Our guest this morning is Jack Witherspoon.

Jack is a South Bay native and resides in Redondo Beach with his mother Lisa, father John and younger brother Josh.

He is 12 years old and attends Richardson Middle School where he is a straight A student.

Jack is also a chef, cook-book author, philanthropist and three time leukemia survivor.

Since Jack was 7, he has been hosting and cooking at charity events to raise money for cancer research and support.

So far, he has raised more than $150,000 and has established his own endowment at Miller Children’s Hospital. In honor of Jack’s donations, the hospital has named one of their patient rooms in their newly completed pediatric oncology wing, The Chef Jack Witherspoon Room.

Jack’s story and accomplishments have been followed by numerous news programs on CBS, KCAL and KABC. Jack is a regular guest on FOX News for which he does in-studio cooking demos. His next appearance is scheduled for Friday, March 29th.

Jack’s cookbook, “Twist it Up” was released last year to rave reviews. In January 2013, the Paris Gourmand Cookbook Awards awarded Jack’s book the “Best Charitable Cookbook in North America”.

Last month, Target featured an interview with Jack and posted his Sugar Cookie recipe, with step by step photos on their online magazine.

This Sunday, Jack will be the guest chef at Chez Melange for a fundraising event.
