Our guest this morning is Mark Burton.

Mark is running for a seat on the Manhattan Beach City Council in March.

He’s lived in the South Bay for over 50 years, attended Loyola High School and has a Bachelor of Science in economics from Loyola Marymount University.

Mark is a former Senior Assistant City Attorney with over 30 years of public service to the City of LA and its residents.

As a former Senior Assistant City Attorney, he served as a Prosecutor and represented police officers, firefighters and the city in state and federal courts.

He also served as a management attorney where he advised city leaders, such as Mayors, Council members, city commissioners, department heads and upper level management in managing their employees and issues.

Mark served as the General Counsel to LAPD, LAFD, LAX Police and LAX Risk Manager and is recognized as an expert in California's Open Meeting Laws and city risk management issues.

He negotiated and drafted thousands of city agreements and was selected as the lead negotiator for the LAPD consent decree that reformed the LAPD. 

When time allows, Mark can be found playing basketball at Live Oak Park.
