With millions of copies sold, Your Pregnancy Week by Week is a book mothers have depended on for more than twenty years. The updated seventh edition features new topics including the latest weight-gain guidelines and how to treat common pregnancy discomforts without medication, as well as advice on how to have a “green” pregnancy, take a “babymoon,” prepare the nursery, and bank umbilical-cord blood. This expanded edition also includes invaluable information for the year before pregnancy—such as how certain medical conditions may impact the pregnancy and how to develop good eating habits to avoid severe morning sickness—along with a new appendix for couples having trouble conceiving. With detailed illustrations of the baby’s development and an exercise page for every week, it is the most comprehensive and medically current guide available.

The book is formatted into a weekly schedule that helps mothers-to-be keep track of how the baby is growing and how their own health is progressing. The “Dad Tips” throughout the book give the mother’s partner advice on everything from planning finances to supporting the mother’s health from pre-pregnancy through birth. This edition also features brand new appendices on what to expect post-pregnancy—including how to cope with postpartum distress syndrome, decide between breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, and choose the right child care for the baby—as well as a fifteen-page glossary of pregnancy and childbirth terms.

The book is writeen by Glade Curtis, M.D., Board-certified by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and Judith Schuler, who holds a master’s degree in consumer and family studies. Tune in as host, June Stoyer talks to author, Judi Schuler.
